5-Star Plus+ WR Evan Stewart commits to Texas A&M
Frisco (Texas) Liberty wide receiver Evan Stewart is staying in the Lone Star State.
The Five-Star Plus+ wideout announced Monday in an Instagram post he has committed to Texas A&M.
According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Stewart is the No. 4 overall player in the country. He is ranked as the nation’s top wideout and top player from the state of Texas.
The Aggies have the No. 3 recruiting class in the 2022 On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking, and are tied with Alabama for most five-star players in a class with four.
In addition to Stewart, Texas A&M has verbals from Powell (Tenn.) High defensive lineman Walter Nolen, Beaumont (Texas) West Brook safety Bryce Anderson and Cypress (Texas) Bridgeland quarterback Conner Weigman.
Stewart’s commitment puts them in a position to finish with the No. 1 recruiting class in the country.

“Texas A&M feels good about Shemar Stewart, Harold Perkins, Evan Stewart, Anthony Lucas and Jacoby Mathews,” On3 National Recruiting Analyst Gerry Hamilton said last week. “Even Denver Harris is now seriously considering the Aggies after a visit last weekend. The recruiting momentum is building with the class down the stretch. If the Aggies close on three of the six, they will have a legitimate chance to upset Alabama and Georgia for the top class. The LSU head coaching hire could play a role here with Perkins, Harris and Mathews, however.”
Stewart is one of four players in the 2022 cycle considered a Five Star Plus+ player. The other three are Nolen, Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill athlete Travis Hunter and Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei cornerback Domani Jackson.
He played in only three games this season before opting out of the remainder of the season to “mentally and physically” prepare for college football.
“I have enjoyed playing the game of football for a very long time,” Stewart said at the time. “I will never lose the love and energy rush of taking the field with my guys and teammates.”
