5-star Walter Nolen does some informal recruiting of Evan Stewart
Walter Nolen has been a Texas A&M commit for less than a week and he has already informally recruited two fellow five-star recruits on Twitter.
His first went after five-star defensive lineman Shemar Stewart, tweeting out Monday that he “will get (Stewart) to be an Aggie!”
He set his eyes on Frisco (Texas) Liberty wideout Evan Stewart this time around.
Stewart tweeted Wednesday about how he can’t believe how quickly the whole recruiting process has gone and he can’t believe signing day has come so soon. This was likely sparked by seeing his feed full of recruits in sports such as basketball and baseball signing their National Letters of Intent on Wednesday.
Nolen pounced on the post, quote-tweeting it with an uplifting and motivated “(You) ready to be an Aggie.”
Stewart responded a few minutes later, saying “Walt stop playin (with) me” followed by the laughing emoji.
Both players were in College Station, Texas, this past weekend for the Aggies game with Auburn.
Walter Nolen and Evan Stewart are a rare breed of recruit
The On3 Consensus — a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies — rates Walter Nolen as the No. 2 overall recruit and Evan Stewart as the No. 3 prospect in the country.

Nolen and Stewart are also two of four Five Star Plus+ prospects in the 2022 class. The recognition means they are ranked by all four major recruiting media companies as a five-star recruit.
Following the commitments of Walter Nolen and top-100 recruit Chris Marshall, the Aggies jumped from No. 9 to No. 3 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking.
It has also opened up the opportunity for Texas A&M to finish with the No. 1 recruiting class in the country for the first time in history. On3’s Gerry Hamilton broke down that possible scenario and where Stewart might fit.
“The explosive playmaker is expected to pick between Texas A&M and Texas at the end of the day,” Hamilton said. “The Aggies have been ascending with the Longhorns struggles on the field this season. Stewart was on campus in College Station for a second time in three weeks over the weekend. This recruitment is one that Texas can’t afford to lose, and that makes Fisher want it more. This would be a massive perception win for the Aggies.”
