Jimbo Fisher confirms Amari Daniels will return, was not out with injury
Texas A&M has had a rash of news in the last couple weeks, from a slew of players being injured to the indefinite suspension of several players in the program. Some good news Monday, though, as coach Jimbo Fisher noted sophomore running back Amari Daniels will return.
Daniels did not play in the team’s loss to Ole Miss over the weekend, but Fisher said he was not injured.
“He’ll be back this week,” said Fisher, before shaking his head no in response to a follow-up about whether he was hurt.
A 5-foot-8, 200-pound back, Daniels has been a lightly used option behind star Devon Achane.
Daniels has appeared in three games this season, recording four carries for 11 yards. He has not played since the Arkansas game on Sept. 24.
Texas A&M is slated to host Florida this weekend in a game that will kick off at noon ET on ESPN. Amari Daniels will return to the lineup, giving the Aggies a little bit of additional depth behind Achane.

Jimbo Fisher a popular topic nationally
With Texas A&M off to a 3-5 start to the season and on the bottom of the SEC West standings with a 1-4 league mark, talk about Jimbo Fisher’s job security in College Station has been growing.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel noted on the Paul Finebaum Show Monday Fisher’s job is not in jeopardy.
““I said on GameDay on Saturday and I believe it to be unequivocally true; Jimbo Fisher’s job is not in any danger. There’s just zero question about that,” Thamel said on the Paul Finebaum Show Monday. “There’s 86 million reasons of that but there’s a commitment from Ross Bjork and the administration at A&M to recast the Jimbo Fisher era and make it work in a new iteration.”
Meawwhile, Finebaum opined on what Fisher must do to remain with the Aggies while on the McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning program.
“I think the issue becomes far more important from a recruiting standpoint right now than anything else. Because everything else is set,” Finebaum said. “I’m really interested in whether or not Jimbo Fisher can hold on to his upcoming class, the one that is yet to be signed. As well as hold on to the players that he has on his team from last year’s record-breaking haul. I don’t know the answer to that. But I have my doubts that he will be successful because the trajectory of this program is poor.”
