Wade Taylor earned Texas A&M a tough win against Missouri Saturday, hitting a three-point shot in the final seconds. He will get the hero remarks but Henry Coleman certainly stood out. Coleman finished with 16 rebounds, 12 of which were on the defensive end.

Buzz Williams was asked about Coleman’s impact postgame but initially went a different route. His player got quite the comparison, talking about a young Barrack Obama. Williams is high on the positions Coleman has held outside of basketball while being a great person too.

“He has two incredible parents,” Williams said. “… He’s the NCAA men’s basketball representative. He’s the only three-time in a row commissioner appointed, committee for student-athletes. When you think of what Barack Obama was at 22, that’s who Henry is. Just an unbelievable human being, already graduated from college. Everything about his life is pure.”

If Coleman follows the same path as former President Obama, he might be winning an election before we know it. He certainly would have the vote of Williams, his Texas A&M teammates, and the people from College Station.

There is still around a decade before Coleman is eligible to run for president at the age of 35 years old. Until then, he will just continue to play a huge role for Texas A&M down this stretch.

Injuries have been big for the Aggies and Coleman has seen different looks according to Williams. All the work came to fruition against Missouri, a performance Williams called the best of Coleman’s career.

“I actually thought, just because I’ve known him for a long time even prior to coming to College Station, I thought it was his best college game from start to finish and the impact that he had. I would say this year, that’s the most he’s played in any game.

“In November and December, the analytics really loved him,” Williams said. “But since we made the change because of injuries two weeks ago, we adjusted where he started and that’s given us a little different dimension but only because of his ability to execute and swing between both. Not just offensively but also defensively.”

The 16 rebounds is a career-high for Coleman. Fifteen has been achieved on three different occasions, most recently last season in a nonconference matchup against SMU. But doing so against a conference foe means a little more, especially when the game results in a huge win.
