Texas A&M outfielder Caden Sorrell entered the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3’s Pete Nakos. He spent just one season with the program.

The portal exodus continued with Sorrell after head coach Jim Schlossnagle left for Texas this week. Sorrell wasn’t the first freshman to enter the portal either.

Sorrell played in 61 games this season and registered 178 at-bats. He had a .275 batting average, 11 home runs, 42 RBI, 49 hits, seven doubles, five triples, nine stolen bases and had 24 walks.

Sorrell was the No. 100 overall prospect in the Class of 2023, according to Perfect Game. He was the No. 19 outfielder in the class while ranking No. 9 overall in the state of Texas.

Caden Sorrell continues Texas A&M portal movement

Caden Sorrell continued what is expected to be a wild day for Texas A&M following coach Jim Schlossnagle’s departure for the Texas Longhorns.

On Wednesday, Texas officially introduced Schlossnagle as the program’s next baseball coach. While at his introductory press conference, he explained why he chose to leave for Texas and why he chose to do so shortly after coming up just one game short of a national championship with Texas A&M.

“I’m sure the question will come up, ‘Why this move and why now?’ I don’t take that lightly,” Jim Schlossnagle said. “On some hands, this was a very easy decision because of my relationship with Chris [Del Conte] and my past history and my belief in him and his wife, Robin, but it was obviously very hard.”
