5-star WR Cam Coleman remains committed to Texas A&M, but recruitment is 'still open'
Five-star Phenix City (Ala.) Central wide receiver Cam Coleman is one of the centerpieces of Texas A&M’s top-10 recruiting class. But with the news of head coach Jimbo Fisher’s firing, all eyes are turned toward Coleman and what his commitment status is.
“I’m still committed to A&M, but my recruitment is still open,” he told On3’s Chad Simmons on Sunday after the news broke.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pounder has been pledged to the Aggies since July 4, when he chose them over Florida State, Auburn, Clemson and others. But Coleman was already taking some visits before Fisher’s firing, including one to Florida State this weekend.
The Seminoles have remained a major factor in his recruitment, and seeing them in action on Saturday night against Miami only helped their case.
“I like it here. So I just really keep coming back to get the feel all over again” Coleman told Warchant after the game. “I’m feeling really good about them. I’m feeling really good about FSU. … Just the way they’ve been throughout my whole recruiting process. They’ve really [been] sticking with me since day one. And they haven’t stopped recruiting me.”

He added that the only visits he currently has planned for the rest of the season are a trip to Auburn for the Iron Bowl in two weeks and an official visit to Tallahassee sometime in December. Colorado, Alabama and Florida are among the other programs he’s visited this fall and will be pushing for him over the next six weeks.
Cam Coleman Scouting Summary
“Twitched-up receiver with projectable size and length who is arguably the most physically-gifted pass catcher in the 2024 cycle. Projects as a dynamic X wide receiver. Measured in at 6-foot-3.5, 185 pounds with a 33.5-inch arm in the spring prior to his senior season. Tested as a rare athlete during the spring camp cycle. Pairs his athleticism and length to result in a large catch radius. Shows the ability to make eye-popping acrobatic grabs in contested situations. Adjusts to low and wide throws. Frames the ball at the catch point, using good technique. Flashed a relatively advanced release package off the line of scrimmage in the camp setting along with the burst and long-speed to separate on Friday nights.
… Has the long speed to separate downfield against top corners. Runs with toughness after the catch. Has a shorter stride length for a taller wide receiver. Doubles as an electric above-the-rim athlete on the basketball court. Young for the cycle, not turning 18 years-old until his freshman season of college. Does not have the same level of gaudy production as some other top-ranked 2024 wide receivers as he split targets with Michigan signee Karmello English as a junior. Has shown several signs of a very high developmental upside along with a rapid spike in his development over the course of his junior year.”
