Colorado transfer, former Pitt edge rusher Dayon Hayes commits to Texas A&M

Former Colorado edge rusher Dayon Hayes has committed to Texas A&M, according to On3’s Hayes Fawcett. Hayes began his college career at Pitt.

Hayes started in the first four games of the 2024 season for the Buffaloes before getting injured. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

He had two sacks among four tackles for loss in those games.

Hayes spent four years at Pitt, with the 2020 season not counting toward his eligibility.

In his five-year college career, Hayes has played in 43 games, making 14 sacks among 31 tackles for loss.

Hayes played high school football at Westinghouse (Pa.) High School. He was a four-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class and the nation’s No. 266 recruit, according to the On3 Industry Ranking.

The Aggies are after a former top edge rusher recruit in the portal

Georgia transfer EDGE Samuel M’Pemba is taking a visit to Texas A&Maccording to a report from CBS Sports. He officially entered the transfer portal Dec. 13.

M’Pemba appeared in 11 games as a true freshman in 2023, when he totaled six tackles. However, he only made four appearances in 2024, and didn’t record a stat in that time. He will have three years of eligibility after preserving a redshirt.

M’Pemba — a St. Louis, Missouri native — played high school football at Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy, where he was a four-star prospect. He was the No. 44 overall player and No. 6 EDGE in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Texas A&M is the first reported visit for Samuel M’Pemba as the Aggies look to add to their transfer class. So far, Mike Elko and Co. have six commitments out of the portal, including a notable splash at wide receiver.

Former Texas Tech wide receiver Micah Hudson is making his way to College Station. He’s coming off his freshman season in Lubbock, arriving as a Five Star Plus+ recruit, meaning he was one of the only players ranked by all four major recruiting media companies as a five star. He was the No. 12 overall player from the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

After entering the portal, Hudson became one of the top transfers on the market. Through the first couple weeks of the portal window, he comes in as the No. 4 overall player and No. 3-ranked wide receiver to hit the open market, according to the On3 Industry Transfer Rankings.
