Texas A&M’s sophomore linebacker Antonio Doyle Jr. has committed to Jackson State and Deion Sanders, he announced on Twitter.

It’s no secret Prime Time is building an FCS empire in Jackson, Mississippi and even SEC players want in on the action.

Doyle was a four-star recruit coming out of high school, according to the On3 Sports recruiting database. He headed to College Station last season as the No. 98 player overall, the No. 14 linebacker and No. 4 player in his home state of Missouri.

During his senior season at Lutheran High School, he totaled 73 tackles, 12 tackles-for-loss, three sacks and a pair of fumble recoveries as a senior. His efforts earned him 2019 Metro League Player of the Year honors.

Fast forward to fall 2020 and Doyle Jr. made his collegiate debut against Vanderbilt in a winning effort. He would go on to see action in all 10 games during his freshman season, though he was primarily a special teams player.

Doyle went on to play in nine games as a sophomore where he only managed seven total tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss. He looks to become a major contributor right away in Sanders’ program this fall.

Not only do they have a former SEC linebacker joining the ranks, Sanders also managed to land two of the top recruits in the nation during the early signing period.

Travis Hunter, 2022’s No. 1 recruit, shocked the college football word when he flipped from Florida State to Jackson State.

“Florida State has always been a beacon for me. I grew up down there, that’s where my roots are, and I never doubted that I would play for the Seminoles,” Hunter said on national signing day. “It’s a dream that is hard to let go of, but sometimes we are called to step into a bigger future than the one we imagined for ourselves. For me, the future is at Jackson State University. Jerry Rice, Doug Williams, and of course the legend, JSU’s own Walter Payton — Historically Black Colleges and Universities have a rich history in football.

Kevin Coleman, who is a top-100 recruit in the On3 database, also committed to Jackson State following Hunter’s commitment. It’s safe to say the Tigers have the No. 1 overall recruiting class in all of FCS for the 2022 season.

“I want to be part of that history, and more, I want to be part of that future. I am making this decision so that I can light the way for others to follow, make it a little easier for the next player to recognize that HBCUs may be everything you want and more: an exciting college experience, a vital community, and a life-changing place to play football,” Hunter said. “I look forward to working with the iconic Deion Sanders, and especially with my fellow Tigers. Along with Coach Prime, they have made me feel like I’m already part of the team. Like I’m home. And I can’t wait to welcome the next class of top athletes into the family of HBCUs.”

With Doyle joining Hunter, Coleman and the rest of the Jackson State family, the sky’s the limit for the budding FCS powerhouse under one of the greatest NFL players of all time.
