Devon Achane touchdown run ties game vs Appalachian State
No. 6 Texas A&M hasn’t gotten off to the most convincing start to the season, sluggish last week in a 31-0 win over Sam Houston State before going through a scoreless first quarter against Appalachian State this week. And the Mountaineers actually took a brief lead against the Aggies early in the second quarter before a 26-yard Devon Achane touchdown run knotted things up at 7-7.
One drive after Appalachian State opened the scoring by capitalizing on a Haynes King fumble, Texas A&M leveled it with Arcane’s score.
The junior tailback took a carry just off right tackle, found clear space and evaded a pair of defenders at both the first level and in the secondary to race to the end zone for the tying score.
Following Appalachian State’s touchdown to go up 7-0 with 14:56 left in the second quarter, Texas A&M began the Achane scoring drive at its own 25-yard line.

King, despite fumbling again on the Aggies’ scoring drive, managed to spark things by completing a pair of passes and then scampering for a 31-yard gain to cross midfield. After a short pass, Texas A&M lined up at the 26-yard line and handed to Achane.
He did the rest.
The Aggies are looking to move to 2-0 on the season prior to a key stretch of the schedule.
In the next two weeks the Aggies will take on a pair of ranked teams at home to close out the first month of the season before going on a difficult three-game road stretch to begin the month of October.
Texas A&M will host No. 15 Miami next weekend before playing host to No. 16 Arkansas on Sept. 14. With October comes a road trip to Mississippi State, followed by road games to No. 1 Alabama and South Carolina.
