Earlier in August, during their fall camp, the Texas A&M Aggies were struck with unfortunate news as tight end Donovan Green went down with a torn ACL. Green suffered the injury during the Aggies scrimmage and will have to sit out the entire 2023 campaign as he recovers from the unfortunate injury.

Fast forward to Wednesday of the Aggies’ Week 1 game week, Green has just revealed a status update on his road to recovery. According to a recent post from his social media account, the Texas A&M sophomore tight end is scheduled to have surgery to repair the injury on Thursday, August 31

“Hey Aggie Nation! Just wanted to give you all a quick heads up that I’ll be undergoing ACL surgery tomorrow. It’s finally time to fix this and come back even stronger! Thank you all for your endless love and support – it truly means the world to me. I’ll keep you updated on my…,” said Green via X (formally Twitter).

Although it is a devastating injury, Green is filled with high hopes and optimism about his ACL surgery. His positive energy heading into the surgery can be felt within his message to the Aggie fans. The Texas A&M tight end is eager to start on his road to recovery, and he is thankful to all the fans who have shown him love and support as he recovers from this unfortunate injury.

Wednesday’s message is the second update straight from Green to Aggies nation. On Monday, Green confirmed the news that he would miss the entire season with an emotional message along with it, diving into his faith. The journey of getting back onto the football field has already begun, according to Green, hoping to work back toward 100% for the 2024 season.

“I suffered a season-ending injury this past weekend,” Green’s tweet said. “This was not what I was expecting for this season, but I do understand God’s plans are sometimes different from ours. So now I’m already working for next season and helping our team anyway possible. I want to say thank you for all the support and prayers. They are definitely motivational.

“He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, Romans 4:20 NKJV I do it all in his name, AMEN.”

Green may have been a true freshman but he played a huge role for Texas A&M in 2022. He wound up being the team’s fourth leading receiver, having 233 yards. Two touchdowns were caught off 22 receptions for a solid debut collegiate campaign.

More of the same was expected under new offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino. Quarterback Conner Weigman already has one of the best-receiving corps in the country, sometimes giving Green an advantage against opposing defenders. Green would have been in a ton of favorable matchups.
