Five-star DL David Hicks Jr. picks the Aggies

David Hicks Jr. grew up waiting to reveal his commitment on national television at an All-American game. Sometimes, however, the process ends sooner than expected.
Hicks, the On3 Consensus top-ranked defensive lineman in the country, committed to Texas A&M on Wednesday. The Aggies edged out Oklahoma as well as a host of other notable contenders like Alabama, Michigan State, Oregon, Miami and Texas.
After visiting Kyle Field twice in the past month, the Aggies won a tightly contested battle over the Sooners for the top-10 overall player.
“With everything at Texas A&M, it’s always been the same,” Hicks told On3. “Coach (Elijah) Robinson, Coach (Terry) Price — they have always been the same.”

Texas A&M was the first school to offer Hicks a scholarship as an underclassman at Katy (Texas) Morton Ranch and has continued to be in the thick of the five-star’s recruitment while also at Allen and back in Katy for defending champion Paetow.
“It’s about how consistent they are,” Hicks said. “The relationships, we’re close and they’ve never really changed. Nothing has changed about how they view much and how much they wanted me.”
Hicks is the nation’s No. 9 overall player according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
