Five-star DL Dominick McKinley reaffirms commitment to Texas A&M

On3 Industry Ranking five-star DL Dominick McKinley is one of the cornerstone pieces in Texas A&M’s No. 7-ranked recruiting class in 2024.
The Aggies fished Jimbo Fisher as the program’s head football coach on Sunday, just hours after McKinley and his family made their first visit back out to College Station for the team’s thrashing of Mississippi State inside Kyle Field.
McKinley, the No. 6-ranked DL in the country out of Lafayette (La.) Acadiana High School in the Boot, committed to the Texas A&M Aggies back on September 1 over the likes of Texas, Oklahoma, LSU and Ohio State.
After returning to Texas A&M this weekend, McKinley reaffirmed his commitment to the Aggies and associate head/DL coach Elijah Robinson, who has reportedly taken over as the interim head coach in place of Fisher moving forward.
He has the support of one of his five-star commitments in McKinley:
“I can trust Coach E — even if he was moved to head coach permanently,” McKinley, the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 29 overall player in the country, told On3 on Sunday.
“I spoke to him this morning and my relationship with him and love for the university hasn’t changed,” he continued. “I think he’ll do great personally (as the interim head coach).”
McKinley has only visited Texas A&M this fall
McKinley has strictly visited Texas A&M since giving the Aggies a commitment at the start of September.

In addition to Texas A&M, the On3 Industry Ranking’s No. 29 player in the country has heard from Auburn, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU and Florida about making game-day visits to campus. The Longhorns, Sooners and Tigers were all finalists behind the Aggies when he committed on September 1.
He told On3 he has no other visits scheduled.
“I can succeed at Texas A&M at a high level. I can get my degree at a good school and get put in the league, and I know I’ll be taken care of afterward with jobs and life after football,” McKinley told On3 of his decision to commit to the Aggies.
“The recruiting process has been stressful and you develop these relationships, but you can only go to one school,” Angie McKinley, Dom’s mother, said. “He liked Texas A&M’s program and the academics there are amazing. He wants to get into engineering and he likes the networking he can have after graduation. We are excited about that.”
McKinley is the No. 1 overall recruit from the talent-laden state of Louisiana, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
