Former Texas A&M quarterback Jerrod Johnson lands on-field opportunity with hometown Houston Texans as the team’s quarterbacks coach, according to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.
Johnson played for the Aggies from 2006-2010 and even played a season of basketball at the school. He was a starter at quarterback in three different seasons but was only the full-time starter in 2009. In 2010, he lost the job to Ryan Tannehill.
He started his coaching career with the San Francisco 49ers and Indianapolis Colts as as part of the Bill Walsh Diversity coaching fellowship. He was then a quality control assistant for the Colts from 2020-2021.
Johnson was the assistant QB coach for the Minnesota Vikings this year.
