4-star WR Johntay Cook: 'All [Texas] got is swimming trophies'
Four-star DeSoto (Texas) wide receiver Johntay Cook recently visited Texas, and he noticed something about the trophy case in their athletics building: It doesn’t hold football trophies.
“All they got is swimming trophies,” Cook said in a vlog of his visit released on Twitter. “No football trophies.”
As the video made its way around Twitter, Cook tweeted to defend himself, “Whole point of recruiting is to put trophies in the cases.”
However, that didn’t stop Texas fans from taking his comments personally, with a number of Twitter users taking him to task over his comments about the Longhorns. And predictably, Texas A&M and Oklahoma fans had some fun at their expense. Both the Aggies and Longhorns are among the favorites to land Cook, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM). It gives Texas (60.3 percent) an edge over A&M (31.1 percent) with LSU, Alabama and others trailing behind.
Johntay Cook will return to Texas A&M for spring game
Cook, a top-50 recruit nationally, is one of the marquee visitors expected at Texas A&M for the spring game this weekend.

The Aggies have steadily gained steam with the DeSoto (Tex.) four-star receiver in recent months. Now, Cook’s eyes and ears will be tuned into the offense.
“A&M is a good place and I’m really looking at them hard, so I’ve got to go see this offense and see if it’s gonna talk to me,” he told On3’s Sam Spiegelman.
“… Jimbo is cool with it,” he continued. “He can be your friend and make you laugh. He makes you feel like you’re at home. He’s a great dude, a great coach and a great dad, and just a great man to be around.”
