“I don’t know,” Hayden Schott said. “I mean, I don’t know anything specific right now. It’s just a general — when — I don’t know. I don’t know how to explain the love that I have for — I’m sure it’s biased because probably every team feels the same way. But the love I have for those guys is undoubtable. And the love for the 12th Man, how they stuck with us through ups and downs, just what they mean to me and everyone else on that team, it’s just special.”
Texas A&M has been one of the best teams in the country throughout the entire season and ended up earning the third overall seed going into the NCAA Tournament. They then went on a run that led to Omaha and the College World Series championship against Tennessee. However, even though the Aggies took Game 1 from the Volunteers, they dropped the final two games and Tennessee left as national champions.
“It’s just tough to really appreciate it right now. But I’m doing my damned best,” Schott said.
Hayden Schott was the designated hitter batting cleanup for Texas A&M in Game 3. In that effort, he went three for five with a run scored in the game. That came after a season where he hit .335 with a .418 OBP and a .498 slugging percentage. He hit eight home runs and had 63 RBIs on the season.

This was Schott’s only season with Texas A&M, after transferring in as a graduate student from Columbia. That means this was his only season to play in front of the 12th Man.
Hayden Schott recalls what led him to Texas A&M
Prior to the series against Tennessee starting, Hayden Schott explained what led him to go to Texas A&M.
“I actually went to boarding school for high school. It’s all based on tradition and excellence and stuff like that. When I met the coaching staff and learned more about A&M as a whole, the student body, and the people surrounding Texas A&M, that group of people is so powerful and they’re so supportive. And I think that initially drew me in. It’s been nothing short of amazing during my tenure here,” Schott said.
“And then obviously you have the best coaching staff in the country, which helped out a little bit. So I think the mix of the people at A&M and this coaching staff, that was the initial draw. And then now having this group of guys that I’ve got to come play for a championship with is pretty unbelievable.”
