Houston 5-star CB Denver Harris joins Texas A&M's No. 1 recruiting class
The nation’s best recruiting class got even better Saturday.
Houston North Shore five-star cornerback Denver Harris announced after the Texas 6A Division I state championship game Saturday that he has committed to Texas A&M.
The Aggies edged out in-state rival Texas for the commitment.
To top it all off, Harris helped Houston North Shore win its third state championship in four years as the team defeated Duncanville (Texas) 17-10. Houston North Shore defeated Duncanville each time.
Harris is the No. 17 prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is ranked as the fifth-best player in the state of Texas.
The only defensive back that ranks ahead of him in the On3 Consensus is Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei Five-Star Plus+ cornerback Domani Jackson.
On3 rates the 6-foot-2 defensive back as the No. 3 player in the Lone State State and the No. 15 overall prospect in the Class of 2022 On300.
Denver Harris’ commitment further solidified Texas A&M’s spot at the top of the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Rankings.
The Aggies entered with a score of 95.159, ahead of Alabama‘s 94.753, and now have a 95.430 score.
Harris is the sixth five-star commit in the Texas A&M class, which is the most in the country. The other five-star commits are Powell (Tenn.) High Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman Walter Nolen, Frisco (Texas) Liberty Five-Star Plus+ wide receiver Evan Stewart, Lakeland (Fla.) High defensive lineman Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy, Scottsdale (Ari.) Chaparral defensive lineman Anthony Lucas and Cypress (Texas) Bridgeland quarterback Conner Weigman.

The Aggies have 15 commits inside the top 100 of the On3 Consensus. The Crimson Tide have 14 top-100 recruits and Georgia has 11.
There are now six defensive backs in the Aggies class with four cornerbacks and two safeties. The other corners are Bainbridge’s (Ga.) Deyon Bouie, Snellville (Ga.) North Cobb’s Marquis Groves-Killebrew and Katy’s (Texas) Bobby Taylor.
Texas A&M was the heavy favorite for Harris, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), which gave the Aggies a 97.8% chance to land Harris at kickoff of Saturday’s championship game.
RPM was released to the public last week. The On3 engineering group teamed up with Spiny.ai to create the industry’s first algorithm and machine learning-based product to predict where athletes will attend college.
It factors in machine learning, expert predictions, social sentiment, visits, and historical trends. However, expert predictions are still a big piece of the RPM equation.
