Jace LaViolette belts 415-foot solo home run in first to put Texas A&M up early over Tennessee
Texas A&M sophomore Jace LaViolette didn’t hesitate to break the ice in Game 2 of the College World Series championship. In the bottom of the first inning against Tennessee, LaViolette crushed a solo-run shot to right field to give the Aggies a 1-0 lead.
It was LaViolette’s first home run in the NCAA Tournament and his 29th this season. He leads the Aggies in home runs this year, with Braden Montgomery following closely behind.

Jace LaViolette’s home run only becomes more impressive when considering he is playing on a lingering hamstring injury he suffered against Florida in Game 2 of the College World Series.
“He came to me and said he felt awesome hitting,” Texas A&M head coach Jim Schlossnagle said Wednesday. “He ran around the outfield, and the trainer said he was fine. The next two days will be great, and our medical staff has done an awesome job to get him functional out there.”
