Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M made a racket in the last year. They pulled off a historic recruiting class, No. 1 in the country for 2022. They also beat Alabama on the football field last fall. Then Fisher and Saban got into a bit of a scuffle across several press conferences over NIL differences. The Aggies are knocking in the Crimson Tide’s door, and loudly. Fans are cheering on that knocking too. But they are ready for the program to take the next step, according to On3’s JD PicKell.

On the On3 YouTube channel, PicKell broke down the expectations Fisher faces after such a boisterous campaign off the field since last season. He needs to come through on the lofty promises he made for the program before fans get restless.

JD PicKell on fan base expectations for Texas A&M

“In terms of what they’re feeling internally with this fan base, the pulse of the fan base right now is: a lot of juice. A lot of Buzz. They’re ready for the next step. Their pulse is what’s next. Because for Jimbo Fisher, they’ve done a lot of good things. Like I just mentioned, they’ve teed this thing up about as well as you could ask.

“The fan base is saying…okay, now let’s actually get to where we want to be. Jimbo, we’ve — hey, we’ve been patient. We’ve paid you a lot of money. All this that and the other. Let’s start to see some ROI (return on investment). That’s what they’re waiting for. Talked to some people close to that program. They said the fan base is expecting at least nine or ten wins. The baseline if everything goes to the dogs is eight wins.

“If we got eight wins or less we might have to have another conversation in terms of what the fanbase is saying to Jimbo. You catch my drift? The fan base is hungry for that next step. So if you look at these two camps with the internal pulse of that program and that locker room, and the internal pulse of that fan base, they’re very much aligned. They both have their sights set on what’s ahead what what can we get to?”
