Jim Schlossnagle and the Texas A&M Aggies got a key series win over the weekend for the Florida Gators. As the season is approaching its end, this is a win that could put the Aggies squarely in contention for the NCAA Tournament.

After the series, Schlossnagle explained the importance of getting that win over the Gators.

“Yeah, I mean, I think given where we are in our season, any win is a huge win,” Jim Schlossnagle said. “In this conference, I’ve only been in it a year and a half, but as soon as you think you have it figured out, good luck. You know, there’s so many great teams, and the difference between winning and losing is just marked so thin and an injury here, an injury there, completely changes the season or game, and that can change a whole season.”

Texas A&M is a team squarely on the bubble of making the NCAA Tournament. Winning a series over the Florida Gators could be the thing that pushes them over the top and into the NCAA Tournament.

Oddly enough, the Aggies weren’t the only bubble team to secure a key series win in the SEC this past weekend. Auburn and Georgia both got key wins over LSU and Tennessee respectively. With that, the SEC could have as many as 11 teams looking at bids in the tournament.

Jim Schlossnagle explained how NIL is impacting college baseball

A lot of the time, NIL is seen as something that only really impacts basketball and football. However, its wide-ranging impact does affect baseball and other Olympic sports as well.

Earlier this season, Jim Schlossnagle explained how NIL is affecting college baseball.

“To me, everybody can have different opinions on NIL and the stories of million dollar contracts and all that kind of stuff. That stuff’s not in college baseball, at least not yet. But where NIL is a great thing is really exactly what you said, because it allows a guy to graduate. It allows Trevor Werner to come back and graduate,” Schlossnagle said.

“The Asa Lacys of the world that are first-rounder, we want those guys to get out and start their professional baseball career and be a high draft pick and take that good bonus and see what they can do and chase their dream. But it’s the ‘tweener player. It’s the guy that, ‘Hey, I’m thinking about signing for $200,00’ or ‘I’m not sure what I want to do with this or that.’ Those are the guys that they need to be in college, because baseball is not a career choice. Baseball is a dream that we hope works out.”
