The Texas A&M Aggies, led by head coach Jim Schlossnagle landed the third overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. With that, the Aggies are hosting a regional in College Station, welcoming Grambling, Louisiana, and Texas for the NCAA Tournament.

Ahead of the College Station Regional, Schlossnagle shared his initial impressions on those opponents, acknowledging that he doesn’t know a ton about two of them.

“Don’t know much about Grambling or Louisiana, simply because we haven’t played them,” Jim Schlossnagle said. “I mean, I know Grambling won their tournament. We know, obviously, Coach [Matt] Deggs really well and know the quality program and toughness and level of competitiveness that his teams always have. We played Texas, so we have a little bit better idea on them. But we’ll spend the rest of the week getting ready for that.”

Matt Deggs, the Louisiana head coach, was previously the head coach at Sam Houston State. He has even spent time at Texas A&M as an assistant coach during the Rob Childress.

The one team that Texas A&M has seen before this season that they’ll see in College Station are the Texas Longhorns. The two played earlier this season in Austin, with the Aggies taking the game 9-2. However, that was back in early March and these teams have had time to change.

Coming into the College Station Regional, Texas A&M has been phenomenal at home, going 32-3 this season. On the other hand, Texas has an 11-5 record on the road this year. For their part, Louisiana is 14-5 on the road this season and Grambling is 9-12 in road games.

There’s plenty on the line for Texas A&M in this NCAA Regional, with a chance to host the Super Regional on the line if they can take care of business.

Jim Schlossnagle opens up on the boost Ted Burton brings to lineup

One player who Texas A&M is going to be leaning on in the middle of the lineup is Ted Burton, and Jim Schlossnagle recently explained what he brings to the lineup.

“Huge,” Schlossnagle said. “He had a stretch where he had five homers in four games. He just stretches the lineup. I mean, the strength of our team is, for the most part, on the offensive side. So, when you take a big piece of that out, then it affects everybody, moves everybody up, puts them in different spots. Not that we’re not capable. We won games without Ted. But he has a big bat.”
