Jim Schlossnagle updates injury availability of OF Braden Montgomery, LHP Shane Sdao ahead of CWS
Texas A&M will be without its No. 2 starting pitcher for the College World Series in Omaha, coach Jim Schlossnagle confirmed on Wednesday morning.
According to a report from TexAgs, Schlossnagle said left-hander Shane Sdao is done for the 2024 campaign but the prognosis is “better than expected” on the injury with regard to the 2025 season.
Sdao had put together a 5-1 record on the season with a 2.96 ERA, proving to be one of the most competent pitchers on the roster for the Aggies.
In 48.2 innings of action he had struck out 55 while walking just nine. He’s also allowed opposing hitters to hit just .235 off him.
But he pulled up hurt after just 11 pitches in his start in Game 2 against Oregon in the Super Regionals.
Needless to say his absence will be a big deal in Omaha, something Jim Schlossnagle will have to work around.
So too will be the absence of star hitter Braden Montgomery, who was placed into an air cast during the Super Regionals against Oregon following an awkward slide into home plate. Montgomery will miss the rest of the season.

BOR meeting sparks speculation
Montgomery underwent surgery Wednesday morning in North Carolina and is set to join Texas A&M in Omaha in a few days.
The Aggies advanced by knocking off the Ducks, setting up a first-game showdown with Florida in the College World Series. That game will be played at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday, with a broadcast slated for ESPN.
If Jim Schlossnagle and Texas A&M hope to advance they’ll need some key contributors to step up in a big way with Montgomery and Sdao now out.
Montgomery was one of the most important cogs in a potent lineup for Texas A&M, ranked third on the team in batting average at .322. Montgomery had also jacked 27 home runs, good for second on the team, as well as knocking out 14 doubles (second on the team) and a triple.
He had 85 RBI on the season and had drawn a whopping 53 walks, able to get on base effectively repeatedly.
