Jimbo Fisher barks back at reporter, shoots down question about analytics
Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher didn’t have any patience for a question about analytics during his postgame press appearance after the loss to Ole Miss. The Aggies fell to the Rebels 29-19 on Saturday as they suffered their third loss of the season to SEC opponents.
Jimbo Fisher on analytics
During his postgame press appearance on Saturday, Jimbo Fisher was asked about the safety his team took in the second quarter that gave Ole Miss a 15-0 lead. The Aggies tried to run the ball but were tackled for a loss in the end zone. Fisher was asked if the analytics supported his decision to run that play in that scenario.
“I ain’t no analytics… I ain’t into analtyics,” dismissed Fisher before the question was finished. “We run good plays that run. I ain’t an analytic guy. Analytics are — that play had been making yards and we made it. What happened was, we didn’t get off the ball. I’m not trying to — analytics are just what we’ve been running, been running well.”
Fisher’s frustration from the game boiled over into the question as he continued to explain in his conference that he needed to watch film before he could make decisions on other key plays as well.
The Aggies did not score a point in the first half, but appeared to be on the comeback trail to start the second. After scoring 13 unanswered points of their own, Texas A&M was down 15-13 in the fourth quarter, before seeing back-to-back drives end with interceptions.

After the first interception, Ole Miss scored a touchdown of their own within the next two plays. Then, quarterback Zach Calzada threw a pick-six that sealed the game. The Aggies would score a touchdown on the next drive but were without time to make a comeback.
The Aggies stunned the SEC by defeating Alabama earlier in the season and appeared to be on track to threaten for the conference championship. After the loss to Ole Miss on Saturday, they are now two losses behind Alabama and are behind Ole Miss despite having played one more game than both schools. They are also behind Mississippi State although both schools are 4-3 in conference play. Mississippi State holds the head-to-head tiebreaker after beating the Aggies earlier this year.
