Jimbo Fisher comments on Zach Calzada's injury, how A&M shut down Auburn
Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher could finally breathe a sigh of relief after the Aggies Took down the Auburn Tigers on Saturday. In a game that was dead-bolted at 3-3 for nearly three quarters, Texas A&M grabbed ahold of the momentum in the fourth quarter. The Aggies tacked on a field goal in the third quarter to lead 6-3 heading into the fourth. It is there where they seal it with two touchdowns to win the game 20-3.
In the postgame meeting with CBS, Fisher spoke about the injury to quarterback Zach Calzada.
“His did slip (out) and they put it back in, he was fine, he went out and played. He’s tough, he’s a competitor. That’s football. And when your quarterback can play like that, the rest of them will do. Sets a tone. I’ve always been blessed to have those guys, and I’m gonna tell you want, he’s one of them. He’s an unbelievable competitor. And our ability to run the football in the second half was great. And … our defense is playing lights out, as good as anybody in America,” Fisher said about Calzada.
Afterward, he followed up with what went right for the Aggies to pull away in the fourth quarter.
“Controlled the line of scrimmage, won the rushing battle, got them in third-and-longs, were able to cover, got good pressure on the quarterback, we tackled well in space, and reduced the pocket and didn’t let Bo (Nix) get out. He’s a really good player,” Fisher said.

Aggie quarterback Calzada went down but was not out
Texas A&M quarterback Zach Calzada left the game against Auburn with a left shoulder injury, but has returned to the game. With less than 5 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, Calzada took a helmet to helmet hit from Auburn defensive back Smoke Monday where he appeared to suffer a shoulder injury.
After the injury, Texas A&M trainers were seen on the field trying to pop his shoulder back into place. Calzada was in a visible amount of pain as they were trying to pop the shoulder back in. It looked incredibly painful and it’s amazing Calzada has returned to the game. but he only missed two plays in the game. Freshman walk-on quarterback Blake Bost took two snaps before Calzada came back in the game with a harness on his left shoulder.
