With running back Devon Achane out with a foot injury and receiver Moose Muhammad missing for what coach Jimbo Fisher described postgame as an “internal issue” the Texas A&M offense was shorthanded Saturday.

That led to its sixth straight loss of the season Saturday against Auburn, a contest in which the Aggies mustered just 10 points. Asked how the absences of both Achane and Muhammad impacted that result, Fisher refused to use it as an excuse.

“It’s difficult, but we have other guys that can make plays and we had opportunities to make plays,” he said. “The first drive we had a big opportunity and had a protection issue. We had a big guy down the field that we could’ve had some time the very first drive of the game. We had three coming up for a touchdown and busted the protection inside and had it going. Couldn’t get it down there, but we had some opportunities. Amari (Daniels) had some nice runs, Le’Veon (Moss) had some nice runs. Those guys are gonna be really good players.”

Texas A&M punted on its first 10 drives of the game before finally scoring its first points of the game on a field goal with 12:40 remaining in the game. The possessed the ball for just 23:34 all game and just never found their rhythm. This has become somewhat typical out of A&M this season, which ranks last in the SEC with 21.5 points per game.

“There’s other guys that are good players,” Fisher said. “We’ve got to coach ’em better and do better and that’s my fault. I’ve got to do a better job of getting that done for them because those guys are good too. Those are injuries that occur or other situations that occur and you’ve got other good players too.”

With Saturday’s loss to Auburn, the Aggies (3-7) are officially eliminated from bowl consideration. Jimbo Fisher will hope to get both Moose Muhammad and Devon Achane back for next week, when A&M will hope to snap its losing streak with what should be an easy win against Massachusetts.
