Jimbo Fisher praises Evan Stewart for improvement
In a season where the Texas A&M offense has struggled, freshman wide receiver Evan Stewart has been a bright spot. The young prospect is the Aggies leading receiver and still has several years to develop down in College Station. His rapid growth and instant impact have made Jimbo Fisher a happy man this season.
Fisher spoke highly of Stewart’s improvement during his radio show this week. His latest performance is just the latest evidence that suggests he’s going to continue to make special plays over his time in college.

“He got that one ball down the sideline…(It) was really good. Made a nice catch from a good throw by Conner on the first touchdown,” said Fisher. “He went up with one hand in a really good spot and he made a nice play. Controlled his body. Just getting better and better.”

Stewart leads the team so far in receptions (38) and receiving yards (478). That exceeds all other A&M wideouts by 15 catches and 136 yards. He has caught two touchdowns on the year as well. That production has really kicked in, though, over the last few games. A lot of that has coincided with the season ending injury to Ainias Smith after that took him out over the month of October. Stewart has caught 20 passes for 281 of his yards and a touchdown over the Aggie’s last three games.
On an offensive unit that’s outside the Top-100 in the country, Stewart is a prospect that A&M can be excited about in the future. He’s making plays on a team that really needs them with this only being the foundation of what he can be for them in the future. Stewart has at least four games left in his freshman season to build on that foundation too as he continues to tap into his potential at this level.
