Jimbo Fisher provides an update on injured TE Max Wright after scary situation vs Auburn
After Texas A&M tight end Max Wright left the field on a stretcher on Saturday versus Auburn, head coach Jimbo Fisher cleared the air on his status after the scary situation.
Wright took a hit then called for medical assistance before the team stabilized him and sent him to Auburn Medical Center.
“He’s shook up,” Fisher said. “He’s pretty sad. Because Max has been through a lot in his career. There is nobody who loves Texas A&M more or puts his heart and soul into practice and everything he does more than max Wright does. Praying that he’s okay and he’s back in here. He is shook up but we think he is going to be good.”

The contact that sent the tight end to the sidelined initially seemed routine. Wright caught a pass late in the second quarter and was tackled in space. He got up, struggled to steady himself, then went down to a knee. He eventually made it to the sideline medical tent under his own power. The Katy, Texas native left the sideline on a stretcher.
Later in the game, the SEC Network broadcast shared that Wright had returned to the stadium and was watching the game — presumably from the Aggies’ locker room.
A fifth-year player, Wright is having his most productive season to date. He has appeared in seven games and caught eight passes for 111 yards and a touchdown prior to Saturday night. Versus the Tigers, he added another catch for 18 yards.

The good news from Fisher is that it sounds like the veteran won’t miss more time than he has already. Texas A&M has two games remaining, one versus UMass and another versus No. 6 LSU.
Fisher: Wright is a ‘total team guy’
While discussing Wright last month, Fisher heaped praise on the tight end for his leadership ability and team-first mentality.
“Max is a phenomenal guy,” Fisher said. “Great leader, great caring guy. He’s been around, understands the big picture things — not only what he does playing-wise, sacrifices. Total team guy, but can correlate that and get that across to players. Does a great job with his leadership.
“Guys respect him a lot because of how hard he works, the things he goes through, the way he goes about his business. Just an outstanding human being and player for us. Doing a great job.”
