Jimbo Fisher rejects notion offensive issues vs Auburn could lead to play-caller change
Texas A&M has had issues with its offense all season. In the Aggies’ most recent loss to Auburn, the offense struggled to do anything with the ball. This has led to questions about head coach Jimbo Fisher’s future as the play-caller of the offense.
While speaking to the media, Jimbo Fisher was asked if Texas A&M’s performance against Auburn would be the kind of thing that would lead to him making a change on the offense and bringing in a new play-caller.
“Well, I mean, the offense we run is still the same–there’s similar schemes across the board,” Jimbo Fisher said. “We just gotta call it better, coach it better, and do it better.”

“And, if we bring somebody in, if that whatever what happens, it didn’t matter. Verticals are verticals. Smashes are smashes. And we got to get it coached better and do a better job of it. So, we’ll evaluate everything.”
Jimbo Fisher is insistent that a different play-caller wouldn’t necessarily change the offense. Instead, what’s more important to him is that they coach and execute better.

Texas A&M’s next game is against UMass, one of the worst teams at the FBS level. The Aggies should be able to work their way through some of the issues that they’ve been having on offense in the game. However, after a six-game losing streak, that isn’t going to completely fix things in College Station.
Jimbo Fisher doesn’t think UMass is a reset game
A lot of people have pointed out that Texas A&M’s next game against UMass should allow the Aggies to reset before the end of the year. However, Jimbo Fisher rejected the notion that this should be a reset game for Texas A&M.
“Any game is a good time to reset. Say a ‘reset,’ this is a game. They cause a lot of problems,” Jimbo Fisher said.
“Don Brown on defense–I played, I’ve coached–matter of fact, he was Steve’s [Addazio] coordinator at Boston College. He was really good when he was at Maryland with Ralph Friedgen. He was at Michigan. We played him anyway, he was the coordinator at Michigan in the Orange Bowl when I played him in the Orange Bowl. He is a pain to go against. I mean, a lot of different fronts, blitzes, stems, and things. Offensively, I think they do the same thing.”
