Jimbo Fisher says character is coming out for Texas A&M during struggles
It’s no secret that the 2022 season has been a disaster for Texas A&M and Jimbo Fisher. But with all the lofty dreams and goals crushed, what does the team have to play for now? According to Fisher, it’s their character.
On his radio show this week, Fisher was asked about how the players are handling a disappointing season. To which the A&M head coach responded that their effort and play right now, when there isn’t a whole lot to play for, is revealing. “I mean, there’s a lot of character coming out I mean as far as you’re getting to reveal a lot of guys and what they do,” he shared.
Fisher then went on to explain how the freshmen are starting to get a lot of run and he’s getting to see what they’re made of as rookies.
“All the young players, with some of the injuries, are getting quality playing and time and getting better and better. And more importantly, learning how to practice and prepare and do those things. And like I say, I’ve been extremely pleased. Again, we’re not playing and we’re disappointed we’re nowhere — I mean, not close to habit.”

“But at least the competitiveness and the spirit and the tenacity to go prepare and keep playing, you know, is there,” Jimbo Fisher continued. “And it’s like I say sometimes, those tough times make those great times that much better. And I think we are learning there from that part of it. I still think these young guys are getting better and better and some older guys are too. They can learn as well.”
Still plenty of room to improve as the season winds down for Texas A&M. With such a young roster, most of these guys will be back. A strong finish to an otherwise down year could be the springboard for a huge bounce-back season next fall as the No. 1 ranked 2022 recruiting class continues to develop.
