Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco four-star linebacker Jordan Lockhart has committed to the Texas A&M Aggies. He announced the news on Twitter.

Lockhart had been a long-time Ole Miss commitment but backed off of the pledge in March.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder is the No. 393 overall prospect and No. 40 linebacker in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 32 player in California.

Texas A&M extended an offer to Lockhart on March 5 and he was on campus the first time on March 31. He was back on campus June 9 for an official visit.

Lockhart is the ninth commitment in Texas A&M’s 2024 class. He is also the fifth four-star pledge for the Aggies.

Their other four-star commits are Longview (Texas) Pine Tree defensive lineman Dealyn Evans, Blountstown (Fla.) safety Jordan Pride, Katy (Texas) Tompkins interior offensive lineman Ashton Funk and Itasca (Ill.) Immaculate Conception tight end Eric Karner, who On3 ranks as a four-star. Both Lockhart and Karner have committed to head coach Jimbo Fisher and his staff today.

“I would be hours away from home, and I wanted to find a place that feels like it,” Pride told On3’s Chad Simmons on May 9. “And that feels like home, where I’m from. Everybody is tied together, and they treated my family great when we went up there. … I feel like I’ve really sealed the deal, and this is where I’m going. I’m locked in this time, and there isn’t any changing this one.”

“Last season they struggled a little bit, but I think this year they’re going to bring it back,” he added. “I watched the spring game, and it’s going to something this year that’s going to change.”

Texas A&M’s 2024 class, which ranks No. 15 in the 2024 On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings and No. 7 in the SEC, also contains four three-star recruits. They are Tupelo (Miss.) three-star linebacker Tristan Jernigan, Hattiesburg (Miss.) Oak Grove three-star quarterback Anthony Maddox, Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton three-star wide receiver Debron Gatling and Princeton (N.J.) Hun School three-star quarterback Miles O’Neill.

“Texas A&M wanted me to commit the day they offered me, so I know they wanted me,” Maddox told On3’s Chad Simmons on Feb. 6. “We have been talking every day, they have really shown me they want me and I was ready to get on board.”
