Kendall Rogers predicts Texas assistant Caleb Longley will join Michael Earley's Texas A&M staff
In the wake of reports that the Texas A&M Aggies are hiring Michael Earley to be the team’s next head coach, it appears he’s already putting his staff together.
According to Kendall Rogers, Caleb Longley is going to be one of the assistants on Texas A&M’s staff moving forward. 2024 was Longley’s third season on the staff at Texas. There, he worked with outfielders and hitters. He also added the role of recruiting coordinator for the 2024 season.
In his post, Rogers notably also predicted that another assistant coach role at Texas A&M is going to be taken by a Power 5 head coach.
This comes after Texas A&M head coach Jim Schlossnagle chose to leave the program for Texas following the 2024 season that saw the Aggies go to Omaha. He replaced David Pierce, who had led the Longhorns program since 2017. During that stretch, he took the Longhorns to the College World Series three times and had a 36-24 record in 2024.
Initially, Jim Schlossnagle had planned to have all of his assistants follow him to Texas. That included Michael Earley, who was his hitting coach. However, he’s now set to become the next head coach of Texas A&M instead. Now, he’s already putting together a staff.

Caleb Longley is joining an Aggies team that is coming off one of its best offensive seasons in program history. It was a year that saw Texas A&M hit a program record 136 home runs in 2024. The Aggies also had a slugging percentage of .543 and a team on-base percentage of .415 for the 2024 season. That was under Michael Earley, who acted as the team’s hitting coach.
For his part, Caleb Longley has developed plenty of offensive talent during his time at Texas. That includes putting together the three highest home run total seasons in the Longhorns’ history. In 2022, the Longhorns set their program record with 128 long balls. He also proved effective in his one season as the team’s recruiting coordinator, putting together the third-ranked class in the country, according to Perfect Game.
Longley and Earley have plenty of connections that likely led to this hire. Besides Earley briefly following Schlossnagle to Texas, the pair worked together as assistants at Arizona State. There, the two helped to develop 2020 first overall pick Spencer Torklelson.
Training has been very important to Caleb Longley. He is the creator and CEO of MARV training. That’s a multidimensional training tool focused on hitting and arm care routines and it’s used across multiple sports. He’s also trained quarterbacks, including Jalen Hurts. Quarterbacks often use his programs to help prevent arm injuries.
As a player, Caleb Longley was a standout at East Tennessee State.
