Texas A&M will have more eyes on them than ever before thanks to what head coach Jimbo Fisher has built with the Aggies. There’s a ton of momentum within the program thanks to results on the field and securing the No. 1 recruiting class during the 2022 cycle. If there was ever a time for Fisher to put it all together, this would be the right season.

VegasInsider released win totals for teams across the country recently, with Texas A&M coming in at 8.5. As a comparison, programs such as Kentucky, Miami, Oklahoma State, Oregon, and in-state rivals Texas have the same number.

From a schedule perspective, Texas A&M will play three of its most important games of the season over a four-week span. Miami features as the premier nonconference opponent and will travel to College Station on Sept. 17. One week later, AT&T Stadium is where the Aggies will meet Arkansas for their annual rivalry matchup. Last season was the Razorbacks’ first win in the series since it became an SEC game.

Two weeks later will be one of the most anticipated dates of the 2022 season, with Alabama on the schedule on Oct. 8. The intensity would have been high either way, thanks to Texas A&M pulling off the upset at home last year. However, after recent comments from both Nick Saban and Fisher, things might get personnel.

Even before the drama with Saban, there was going to be a lot of pressure on Fisher to have a successful season with Texas A&M. Even with the upset win against Alabama last year, there were still a few losses that could have been avoided. Fisher will be looking to seriously compete in the SEC West for the first time in his tenure.

A huge factor in success will be based on who wins the quarterback battle. Texas A&M currently has a three-horse race, as Haynes King, Max Johnson, and Conner Weigman battle it out. Two were not with the program last season, with Johnson transferring from LSU and Weigman being a true freshman. King was named the starter before last year’s opener but suffered an injury early on. Now, he’s fighting to reclaim his spot.

The NFL Draft took a good chunk from the roster as well, mostly defensive players. However, with the way Fisher has been recruiting in College Station, there is talent littered all over the field. Texas A&M will be able to reload and compete right away.
