Le'Veon Moss injury update: Mike Elko reveals latest on Texas A&M's RB
Le’Veon Moss is out for the season now for Texas A&M.
Per an update by Mike Elko on Monday, Moss will miss the remainder of the year following the knee injury that he suffered over the weekend during the Aggies’ loss at South Carolina.
“On the injury front, just so you guys are aware, Le’Veon will be out for the year,” Elko said earlier today to open his press conference. “So that’ll be something that we’ll deal with.”
Moss missed almost all of the 44-20 loss for the Aggies in Columbia on Saturday. He rushed twice for eight yards in the opening quarter before a hit caused the injury to his right leg to the extent where he was carted off. While it still had a more optimistic outlook following the outcome, it will still now cost him the final three games of the year according to his head coach.
Moss has been Texas A&M’s leading rusher this season in his junior year. Over the nine games, he has posted 765 yards on 121 carries, good for 85 yards an outing and 6.3 per rush, to score 10 touchdowns. With essentially the same number of touches, that doubled the production he had had as a freshman and sophomore in rushing yardage and scores. It made him one of the nation’s leading rushers this fall, including being the third-leading rusher upon his exit in the SEC.

Moss became the top back in the room in College Station after Rueben Owens had his own season-ending injury before the season. Now, with him out, Amari Daniels (94 carries for 466 yards with six touchdowns) and EJ Smith (33 carries for 107 yards) are up next on the depth chart. Marcel Reed being the starting quarterback will also help their run game with 334 yards and five touchdowns off of 66 carries himself.
The loss of Moss will be a significant one over this last month for Texas A&M. Still, they’ll at least have a bye week to determine how they’ll handle it for the final fourth of their season.
