Chase Bisontis injury update: Mike Elko addresses recovery timeline for Texas A&M OL
Texas A&M made it’s way into the top 10 of the AP Poll following an impressive 38-23 win over LSU on Saturday. A performance that per usual was predicated on the their effectiveness in the run game, rushing for 245 yards and five touchdowns on the ground.
The Aggies were able to so without starting offensive lineman Chase Bisontis, who was ruled out of this weekend’s game and seen on the sidelines on a scooter with a boot on his left foot. As Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko provided an injury update on his left guard ahead of their matchup on the road against South Carolina this Saturday.
“He was out last week, he’s probably gonna be out for a couple weeks until we get him back,” Elko revealed Monday regarding Bisontis. “And so we’ll kind of see where that one progresses coming out of the bye week.”
The Aggies’ bye week comes after this weekend’s game in Columbia, followed by three more games before the postseason begins. With Bisontis just a little bit over a week removed from a lower body injury he suffered in Week 8 against Mississippi State.

Bisontis is a crucial piece of the Aggies’ offensive line after starting in all 13 games last year for Texas A&M as a true freshman. Earning Freshman All-America honors from ESPN and SEC All-Freshman Team recognition with 12 starts at right tackle and one at right guard. Moving to left guard this season as a versatile and productive player up front who can pave the way in the run game.
The Aggies also lost starting center Mark Nabou to a season ending lower leg injury in the first quarter of A&M’s season opener against Notre Dame. With several reserve lineman stepping up and contributing to a unit that ranks second in the SEC in rushing yards per game (221.5). Hoping to get closer to full strength sooner than later as Bisontis looks to return back to the field in the next few weeks.
