In Texas A&M‘s 34-24 win over Mississippi State on Saturday, Aggies quarterback Conner Weigman made his second consecutive start since returning from injury. It was far from a standout showing for Weigman, who threw two interceptions against the Bulldogs. On Monday, Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko evaluated his sophomore QB’s performance.
“I think he has some plays he just wishes he had back,” Elko said. “Each one is kind of each of its own. The first one, I don’t know if it slipped or sailed. It was hard to tell, but it certainly wasn’t an accurately-thrown football. The second one was late.
“Then, I think he just got out of whack with his progression on the other two that probably could have been picked. But I also do think, like a piece of football is not every throw is going to be right. So I don’t know that you ever come out of a game without things to fix or correct.”
Despite throwing two interceptions, Weigman’s leadership on offense was enough to boost the Aggies to their sixth-straight win. In the victory, Weigman completed 15-of-his-25 pass attempts for 217 yards and a touchdown.
Weigman has been instrumental for the Aggies since returning from injury in Week 6. In his first game back, Weigman completed 18-of-his-22 pass attempts for 276 yards in a 41-10 blowout win over Missouri.

It was a statement performance from Conner Weigman, who missed three games due to a shoulder injury he suffered in Week 2. Now, the Aggies will need Weigman again as they prepare to square off against No. 8 LSU on Saturday.
Mike Elko is excited to see how his team responds to the challenge.
“It’s going to be a huge challenge,” Elko said. “It’s going to be a great environment. It’s going to be an opportunity for us to go out there and show we belong on this stage and have taken this program where we all thought we wanted it to go. It’s a great opportunity. It’s a great venue. They’re a great team.
“We’re a talented team. It’s going to be a lot of fun. Looking forward to Saturday, looking forward to a great environment in Kyle, I know our people will show out, and it’ll be electric and spend the week doing the best we can to go play our best football.”
