Mike Elko confirms Texas A&M linebacker Scooby Williams will return in 2025
Texas A&M will have one of its best defensive players back in 2025, with coach Mike Elko revealing on Wednesday that linebacker Scooby Williams plans to return.
KBTX Sports’ Travis Brown reported the news.
Scooby Williams was the team’s fourth-leading tackler this season, while he ranked near the top of the team in tackles for a loss.
A former Florida transfer, Williams had an instant impact with Texas A&M. He logged 43 tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss, an interception, a fumble recovery, four pass breakups and three quarterback hurries.
Prior to enrolling at Texas A&M via the transfer portal, Scooby Williams spent three seasons at Florida. While playing for the Gators he racked up 70 tackles.
He had a breakout season at Florida in 2023 before opting to transfer, tallying 53 tackles and five quarterback hurries while also forcing two fumbles and coming away with one sack. He started 10 of 12 games.

Conner Weigman to enter NCAA transfer portal
While Scooby Williams will return to Texas A&M in 2025, quarterback Conner Weigman will not. Weigman reportedly plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, where he’ll be a coveted prospect.
Weigman played in nine games for the Aggies over two seasons, completing 62 percent of his passes while throwing for 1,875 yards and 16 touchdowns.
As a recruit, Weigman was the No. 29 overall prospect in the 2022 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He also ranked as the nation’s No. 4 quarterback and the No. 8 recruit in Texas.
