Paul Finebaum reveals what Jimbo Fisher must do if he remains at Texas A&M
The vibes at Texas A&M are not great with how their season has played out. The Aggies are currently on a four-game losing streak and sit at 3-5 on the year. With this year down the drain, Paul Finebaum says the key for Jimbo Fisher is to ensure this doesn’t translate into next year as well.
In an appearance on ‘McElroy and Cubelic In The Morning’, Finebaum says Fisher has to do his best to keep his program together. That means securing his upcoming recruiting class during the impending signing period. It also means keeping his roster, specifically the members of last season’s No. 1 class, in College Station.

“I think the issue becomes far more important from a recruiting standpoint right now than anything else. Because everything else is set,” said Finebaum. “I’m really interested in whether or not Jimbo Fisher can hold on to his upcoming class, the one that is yet to be signed. As well as hold on to the players that he has on his team from last year’s record-breaking haul. I don’t know the answer to that. But I have my doubts that he will be successful because the trajectory of this program is poor.”
The embarrassment of this season could make it very easy for recruits to reconsider their decision to attend A&M. The younger prospects at A&M may also be rethinking their commitment, especially in the age of the transfer portal. With all that in mind, it becomes imperative for Fisher to not let his entire program tear at the seams.

Finebaum isn’t optimistic that Fisher will be able to do it, though. The exposure has been so bad that, from the outside looking in, it seems this will all have a ripple effect on the future of the Aggies.
“In this particular case, I don’t think (it’s) enough to undo the current avalanche of bad publicity and really bad feelings…That’s how it looks. That’s what it looks like from a distance,” Finebaum said.
