Haynes King goes down with apparent shoulder injury, Conner Weigman enters game
Backup quarterbacks have been the theme of Week 8 in college football. Another storyline could be in progress of being written in Columbia, with Texas A&M having to make a switch. However, it’s not the choice of head coach Jimbo Fisher.
Haynes King was playing well for the Aggies, mounting a comeback against South Carolina. However, when rolling toward the sideline, King seemed to hurt his shoulder. The strange part of the incident was the fact that King never touched the ground. He was attempting to throw the ball away before showing pain.

King was helped off the field and immediately went to the medical tent. He spent some time being checked out by the Texas A&M staff and was brought back out to attempt some passes. The discomfort was clear for King and for now, is no longer playing.
If King’s night is finished, his final stat line will read as such. 17 of 32 passing for 178 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. He had some slight success on the ground as well, going for 19 yards on three rushing attempts.

As a result of the injury, true freshman Conner Weigman has entered the game for Texas A&M. Somebody fans in College Station have been calling for at times this season, he will now get the opportunity to get a win in the fourth quarter.
The On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting services, ranked Weigman a five-star prospect coming out of high school. He was the No. 4 quarterback prospect in the 2022 class and No. 29 overall. No matter how Weigman performs, Fisher has a special player on his hands.
