Texas A&M has reportedly granted the release of Duke Miles, a now former transfer addition, from his letter of intent in College Station. That comes per reporting by On3’s Pete Nakos on Monday after Miles’ request on Friday.

Miles, who entered the portal earlier this offseason after his lone season at Oklahoma, has committed and since decommitted from two programs. He originally chose Virginia on April 7th before decommitting from the Cavaliers the following week on April 11th. He then later committed to Texas A&M on April 22nd before requesting his release for his letter of intent on May 2nd and now receiving it on May 5th.

Over a half decade in college basketball, Miles has played for Oklahoma, High Point, and Troy. He has averaged 11.6 points (49.5% FG, 35.3% 3PT), 2.9 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals over 116 games, 86 of those being starts, for the Sooners, Panthers, and Trojans. Miles, as a redshirt senior who started every game this past season for OU, posted 9.4 points (51.4% FG, 43% FG), 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.

With that, Miles is one of the top combo guards in the portal again after his latest decommitment. He, according to the latest update to On3’s Industry Ranking of 2025’s Top Transfer Portal Players, is at No. 168 overall as the No. 9 CG, which makes him a Top-35 transfer overall and the No. 4 CG that’s available in the portal still.

No new teams have yet to be reported regarding Miles’ next choice. It’ll be interesting which programs could get involved here, though, considering this inconsistence as far as his portal commitments so far from last month.

Miles has already been committed, and uncommitted again, to two programs in the past four weeks. He’ll now be in search of a third school to commit to for his sixth and final collegiate season after his apparent release today from down in Aggieland.

More on Miles’ request for release from NLI at Texas A&M

Duke Miles has already backed out of one commitment made during this cycle after entering the NCAA Transfer Portal. He will now have a release from his second one to this point of the offseason.

Per Tobias Bass at The Athletic, Miles has submitted for a release from the letter of intent that he signed to transfer to Texas A&M. That comes a week after committing to join the Aggies from the portal.

“NEWS: Duke Miles (@Dukemiles10) has submitted paperwork to be released from his NLI at Texas A&M, he tells @TheAthleticCBB,” Bass tweeted on Friday.

After originally going from the SEC to the ACC, Miles was going to transfer elsewhere in the Southeastern Conference. He won’t end up in Aggieland either, though, as he’ll be back available in the portal upon that release becoming official from the school.
