Report: Texas A&M guard Tyrece Radford arrested Friday for evading police in December
Tyrece Radford, the graduate guard for Texas A&M, has been placed under arrest on Friday in connection to an incident where he evaded arrest in a vehicle back in December.
Brent Zwerneman of The Houston Chronicle shared the news in a report on Friday.
Per the police report, Radford fled from officers on a bike patrol around 2:47 a.m. on December 3rd. After turning on their lights after he disregarded a stop sign, he continued to speed off from them. He did so in a way where he passed through another stop sign in the process. He also nearly hit another vehicle in doing so as well.
After evading police in College Station, officers on campus at Texas A&M then came across Radford and asked if he was connected to the incident. He denied his involvement by saying he hadn’t been out driving and the campus police let him go. Since then, though, footage and social media posts have since led them back to Radford.
Radford is now in Brazos County Jail with a bail of $8,000.
Zwerneman has since shared an additional quote from Buzz Williams in regards to Radford’s circumstances. He said that he has been in the know on the matter and that the facts of it all will be clear soon.
“I’m completely aware of every single thing that’s going on and have been,” said Williams. “In the end it will all be apparent what has transpired. I’ve learned a lot from it”
Radford is in his sixth season of collegiate basketball and third at Texas A&M. He started his career at Virginia Tech and spent three years in Blacksburg with one under Buzz Williams. Then, after two years under Mike Young, he elected to follow Williams to College Station where he has played since ’21-’22.
Over his college career, Radford has appeared in 140 games for the Hokies and Aggies. Radford has averaged double-figure scoring in every season at 11.7 points per game in those games. He has done so while shooting at 46.8% from the field and 32.1% from three. He’s also good for effort on the boards at 5.9 per game.

Radford has appeared in 90 games at Texas A&M with all but one being starts. As an Aggie, he has posted career-best scoring, especially the past two years, at 12.4 points on 41.4% shooting, including 31.7% from deep.
In ’23-’24, Radford is the team’s second leading scorer at 13 ppg. behind only Wade Taylor IV. He’s also third on the team in rebounding (5.7) and second in assists (2.3) in 30 minutes per game.
With Texas A&M in the midst of a battle in the SEC and for a spot in the NCAA Tournament, the loss of Radford, otherwise known as ‘Boots’, for any stretch of time would be huge. That’s especially so with a game on Saturday against Florida to open up an important month of February for them.
Still, for now, we’ll have to wait and see how Radford’s situation progresses off the court following his detainment on Friday.
