Five-Star RB Rueben Owens commits to Texas A&M
Five-star running back Rueben Owens of El Campo (Texas) announced his commitment to Texas A&M Wednesday night.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pounder chose the Aggies hours after decommitting from Louisville.
Rueben Owens On3 Scouting Summary
“The most productive rusher in the 2023 cycle,” On3’s Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote. “Dominates mid-level competition, rushing for nearly 3,000 yards and 46 touchdowns as a junior. Extremely efficient, rushing for over 12 yards per carry. Pairs very good long-speed with vision and contact balance. Has run sub-11.0 second marks in the 100 meters and carries that speed over to the field. Regularly pulls away from the competition. Bounces off tackles at the second level. Spins out of arm tackles. Does not give up on runs. Has also shown advanced ball skills as a pass catcher in the 7-on-7 setting. Does not appear to have a big frame at 5-foot-11 and under 200 pounds. Will need to add mass to his lower body to optimize leg drive and durability. Can improve his lateral agility as he gears down to cut at times.

Rueben Owens Personal Life
Rueben Owens is one of the nation’s premier running backs and has the recognition to back that up. Owens was named MaxPreps’ 2021 National Junior of the Year after rushing for 2,989 yards and 46 touchdowns. With those numbers, it’s no surprise he gets lofty comparisons to some of the best in the game. “My game has four great running backs in it,” he told Sportscasting.com. “The catching ability of Alvin Kamara, the vision and making people miss like Barry Sanders, yards after the catch and balance plus power of Walter Payton, and the quickness and big-play ability of Reggie Bush.” He lists his hobbies as riding horses, fishing and “just being a country boy.” He plans on majoring in kinesiology or business management.
