Samford PG transfer Josh Holloway signs with Texas A&M

Former Samford point guard Josh Holloway has signed with Texas A&M out of the NCAA transfer portal, On3 has learned. Holloway entered the transfer portal on April 5.
Holloway averaged 7.9 points per game to go along with 2.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists a piece as a sophomore during the 2024-25 college basketball season. He appeared in 33 games for Samford this past year, including logging 11 starts.
This came after his true freshman season saw him appear in 35 games for the Bulldogs. He played seven minutes during the 2024 NCAA Tournament, losing to No. 4-seed Kansas in the first round in a high-scoring 93-89 affair.
Samford would be unable to capture the conference championship again this past season. Instead, the Bulldogs accepted an invitation to the NIT, where they would lose in the first round to George Mason.
Before college, the Memphis native attended Oak Hill Academy for his senior season, where he averaged 11.4 points, 3.2 assists, and 1.8 steals per game his senior season at the preps basketball power. Before he arrived there, he averaged 15 points, eight assists, and two rebounds per game at St. George’s Independent School in his hometown as a junior.
Now, he’s set to join a Texas A&M basketball squad guided by first-year head coach Bucky McMillan. McMillan is taking over for Buzz Williams, who left College Station to take the same job at Maryland.

The Aggies made the NCAA Tournament in each of the last three seasons under Buzz Williams. However, Texas A&M was unable to make it out of the first weekend in each of those three appearances. They’ll look to change that under Bucky McMillan for the 2025-26 season, and Holloway will hope to play a starring role during his new school’s effort.
