Following Jim Schlossnagle’s departure, a few Texas A&M players have followed suit. Compliance in College Station has added quite a few Aggies to the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday, including multiple star players from the 2024 College World Series run. Not everybody is planning on leaving, though.

Pitcher Shane Sdao announces he will be returning to Texas A&M for another season. Based on a post he made on social media, Sdao values loyalty and wants to stay true to the Aggies during a difficult time for the program — something you know the fans will appreciate.

“Respect, Excellence, Leadership, LOYALTY, Integrity, Selfless Service,” Sdao said via Instagram. “I’m here to stay.”

Sdao was recruited to Texas A&M by Schlossnagle and pitching coach Max Weiner as a member of the 2023 recruiting class. He just wrapped up his sophomore season, making 20 appearances for the Aggies and making good of them.

A total of 48.2 innings pitched resulted in 16 earned runs given up, an ERA of 2.96, and an opponent’s batting average of .235. He did not pitch for Texas A&M during the College World Series, making his last outing against Oregon in the Bryan-College Station Super Regional.

Just twice was the pitcher left out there for five or more innings. Sdao’s best performance of the season game against Ole Miss on May 12, going seven innings while allowing no runs, striking out six Rebel batters, and walking one.

Early in the year against McNeese State was the other lengthy outing for Sdao. But no matter his usage, he was consistent for Texas A&M and got the job done. A nice arm for Schlossnagle to have during a grueling college baseball season.

Decision makers at Texas A&M have a lot going on, losing their head coach just hours after the season ended on Monday. A new head coach and entire coaching staff are going to be required and quite quickly with how the college baseball calendar is aligned.

At the very least, a nice pitching piece will be waiting for the new coach. Sdao wants to finish out his college career with the Aggies, showing his loyalty to the program he committed to out of high school. A bright future is certainly ahead of Sdao, maybe having the possibility of moving into a starter role under the new Texas A&M regime.
