Report: Shemar Turner arrested for reckless driving
Texas A&M did not have an ideal weekend considering they went and lost at Miami by 15 points. The issues have now extended to off the field to start this week, though, based on the news of the arrest of Aggie DL Shemar Turner.
According to The Houston Chronicle, Turned was arrested on Monday for reckless driving. He has since been released from Brazos County Jail after posting a $3,000 bond.
The arrest stemmed from an incident that took place a month ago on August 12th. The report stated that Turner was driving over 80 miles per hour in an area around campus in College Station that had posted limits of 30-40 mph.
The arrest came a month later as the officer that responded wasn’t able to overtake Turner’s car safely.
Turner has four tackles, a pair of sacks, and a forced fumble in his pair of appearances at A&M this fall. His two sacks make him the team’s leader in that category so far this season. It also gives him a career-high in that area in just two games this fall.
Over three seasons with the Aggies, Turner has 50 tackles, four sacks, and the forced fumble.
Turner played high school football at DeSoto in Texas where he was a five-star prospect. He was the No. 13 overall recruit in the 2021 cycle according to On3’s Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 5 DL in the class as well as the No. 4 recruit out of the Lone Star State.
We’ll have to wait and see how Texas A&M responds and handles this matter regarding Turner. However, it’s needless to say that isn’t how the Aggies would have wanted to start the third full week of their season.

Finebaum: The microscope is back on Jimbo Fisher at A&M after Miami loss
Jimbo Fisher took some of the heat off of himself with his work in the offseason and what was a good opener to this season. However, after this weekend’s 48-33 loss at Miami, Paul Finebaum says the pressure is back on in College Station.
Finebaum spoke about the spotlight on Fisher during ‘The Matt Barrie Show’ on Sunday afternoon. He believes trust in Texas A&M is now back to being shaky at best as the interest in his new staff hires and from their 42-point opening win has worn off.
“The situation with A&M now? Tenuous is a good word. Because, with every game now, the microscope is back on,” said Finebaum.
“All the attention about Bobby Petrino? That, really, accomplished absolutely nothing,” said Finebaum. “It proves that we read so much into first games that don’t mean anything.”
Any losses were going to put a certain amount of attention on Fisher considering how bad things got a season ago. With an early defeat before conference play even starts, though, Finebaum has his concerns about how quickly this could turn around on Fisher again this fall.
