Texas A&M AD Trev Alberts apolgizes for misspelling Conner Weigman's name on season tickets
Excitement is building in College Station for the 2024 season, the first under Mike Elko. There should be some more stability for Texas A&M, especially at the quarterback position with Conner Weigman. Potentially the face of the program, the Aggies treated him as such by putting him on the ticket for the opener against McNeese State.
Unfortunately, there was an error in the process and Weigman’s first name was misspelled.
Texas A&M athletic director Trev Alberts has since apologized for the move. Not just to the fans who received tickets but to Weigman and his family as well. There will be a gift for Aggie fans at the end of the season to make up for the mistake.
“Season tickets were delivered last week and. unfortunately, the McNeese game ticket contains a graphic design error,” Alberts said in a statement. “Conner Weigman’s first name was misspelled. We have apologized to Conner and his family for this mistake, and we are actively establishing a more robust proofing process moving forward to prevent future errors. Any printed tickets received for the McNeese game are still valid and should be used on game day.
“In contrition for this mistake, after the conclusion of the season, Texas A&M Athletics will mail a complimentary commemorative season ticket to all season ticket holders, regardless of if you received printed tickets or digital tickets. Each season ticket account will receive one commemorative season ticket sheet as a keepsake for what we believe will be a special season in Aggieland. Additional information will be available at a later date.”

No matter how his name is spelled, Weigman has to feel good heading into the 2024 season. Injuries have been a major issue for him throughout his tenure. There has been no consistency at the quarterback position and been a reason why Texas A&M has struggled.
Under a new regime, there is optimism over what Weigman can provide. After all, the limited snaps he has played have been good ones. In four games last season, Weigman threw for 979 yards, eight touchdowns, and two interceptions. Now, the goal is to see the results throughout the course of an entire season.
Fans will pile into Kyle Field on Aug. 31 to see Weigman play against McNeese State. Sure, the tickets will have an error but if you asked the 100,000+ people in attendance, it would all be worth it if Texas A&M can start the year 1-0.
