Texas A&M 5-star WR commit Cam Coleman shines with 4 TD receptions
The centerpiece of Jimbo Fisher’s 2024 recruiting class at Texas A&M is Phenix City (Ala.) Central five-star wide receiver Cam Coleman.
The 6-foot-3.5, 185-pounder has all the tools to be an immediate impact player at the college level. With ease, Coleman echoed that point on Friday night by putting together one of his best games in a high school uniform.
In Central’s 41-20 win over Auburn High, Coleman hauled in nine catches for a whopping 294 yards and four touchdowns. Two of the scores were over 60 yards as he helped his team remain undefeated and carry momentum into the state playoffs.
Coleman is the No. 12 overall prospect and No. 3 WR in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s also the top-ranked player in Alabama.
Texas A&M landed his surprise commitment on July 4. He chose the Aggies over Auburn, Florida State, Clemson, and Florida.
“What stood out about Texas A&M was how I felt like home every time I went there,” Coleman told On3 upon his commitment. “From the coaching staff, to spending time with my future teammates. We are all going to stop playing football one day and that’s where the education aspect and Aggie Network comes into play and it’s an amazing network.”

Coleman is one of three five-stars committed to the Aggies, alongside Timpson (Texas) athlete Terry Bussey and Lafayette (La.) Acadiana defensive lineman Dominick McKinley. Texas A&M’s recruiting class ranks No. 5 in the nation, according to the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Ranking.
Coleman has an On3 NIL Valuation of $315K. The On3 NIL Valuation is the industry’s leading index that sets high school and college athletes’ projected annual value (PAV). The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.
Cam Coleman Scouting Summary
“Twitched-up receiver with projectable size and length who is arguably the most physically-gifted pass catcher in the 2024 cycle. Projects as a dynamic X wide receiver. Measured in at 6-foot-3.5, 185 pounds with a 33.5-inch arm in the spring prior to his senior season. Tested as a rare athlete during the spring camp cycle. Pairs his athleticism and length to result in a large catch radius. Shows the ability to make eye-popping acrobatic grabs in contested situations. Adjusts to low and wide throws. Frames the ball at the catch point, using good technique. Flashed a relatively advanced release package off the line of scrimmage in the camp setting along with the burst and long-speed to separate on Friday nights. Has the long speed to separate downfield against top corners.
…Runs with toughness after the catch. Has a shorter stride length for a taller wide receiver. Doubles as an electric above-the-rim athlete on the basketball court. Young for the cycle, not turning 18 years-old until his freshman season of college. Does not have the same level of gaudy production as some other top-ranked 2024 wide receivers as he split targets with Michigan signee Karmello English as a junior. Has shown several signs of a very high developmental upside along with a rapid spike in his development over the course of his junior year.”
