LSU’s head coach vacancy remains one of the hottest jobs in the college football coaching carousel. A plethora of names have been thrown around for the Tigers, none more than current Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher.

When addressing the rumors on Monday, Fisher doubled down on him staying at Texas A&M. He even joked with the media members saying he knows they do not trust him.

“I’ve told everybody I am staying here and I’ve told everybody I plan on being the coach at A&M,” Fisher said. “Everybody thinks all coaches lie, I know. I know y’all don’t believe us. That’s why we don’t trust y’all, so we’re even. Whatever we say is not off the record. I’m joking.”

Going back to his previous comments about the job, Fisher repeated everything he has already said about Texas A&M. Essentially, he and his family are more than happy living in College Station.

“I said the other thing. I plan on being here, I love the AD, I love the president, I love the chancellor, I love living here, I love being at my ranch, the family loves it here, I love the people, I love Kyle Field, I love all of that stuff,” Fisher continued.

Fisher closed out his statement by tripling down that he will be A&M’s head coach for the foreseeable future.

“I plan on being at A&M, I want to be at A&M, I don’t want to be anywhere else, I love being right here,” Fisher said.

Jimbo Fisher talks Texas A&M recruiting

Looking for another angle to explain why he will not leave Texas A&M, Fisher turned toward his 2022 class. He said with all of the talent heading to College Station, leaving just to coach against it at LSU would not be smart.

“We’re going to recruit an unbelievable class this year,” Fisher said. “So I am either the dumbest human being on God’s earth who’s going to recruit all of these guys to A&M so I can go across and play against them. If I did that, you ought to say ‘that’s the dumbest human being, I don’t want him as my head coach.’ We’re going to have one heck of a class, we’re going to have special things here, we’re building special things. They’re invested in the program, they’re invested in everything we got. We’re building a culture.”

Texas A&M currently has the No. 3 class in the country according to the On3 Consensus. Fisher has brought in three five-star players, including No. 2 overall Consensus prospect Powell (TN) Powell High School defensive lineman Walter Nolan.
