The Texas A&M Aggies baseball team has secured a top seed and the right to host the regional round of the NCAA baseball tournament. However, just because of their status in this round does not mean they are a shoo-in to make it out unscathed. And the Aggies baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle is aware of that and the level of competition his team faces.

“My standard feeling on the NCAA tournament is this: you’re either gonna play a really good team, or you’re gonna play a really hot team, or you play a team that’s both,” said Schlossnagle.

The Aggies have some quality opponents within the region, most notably Schlossangle’s former team, the TCU Horned Frogs. But that is not who Texas A&M we’ll start this tournament off facing. The Aggies will take on Oral Roberts first, and their skipper knows better than to overlook the Golden Eagles.

“…Oral Roberts won 38 games. I’ve been coaching for 32 years, Oral Roberts is on the list of four five six teams you do not want them as your four seed. Because they’re not some team that finished under .500 and got hot in the conference tournament. That’s a real program. It’s a real team. They’re used to playing in the NCAA tournament. Coming here is not going to phase them. So we’re gonna have to play well and that’s the case throughout the entire bracket.”

Schlossnagle expects fans to make the trip

With the Aggies hosting this regional round, there’s no doubt that Texas A&M fans, The 12th Man, will be in full support of their team. But just because the Aggies have the home field advantage does not mean fans from the other three teams will not make their way down to College Station for the tournament.

“That’s another thing about this regional obviously the12th man will show up. But I think the fans from all the other three schools will travel well too.”

With all three schools being within the region, TCU is in the state of Texas, the Aggies should expect a raucous environment from the opening pitch.

Games one and two of the NCAA College Station regional round will take place on Friday, June 3. The Aggies will have the opening game, which will start at 1:00 p.n. CT. Both games can be seen on ESPN plus using the ESPN app.
