WATCH: Jimbo Fisher trolls Alabama with Marty & McGee in SEC Network ad
Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M have the game of the week in the SEC against the Auburn Tigers. Conference championship implications are on the line, with the winner staying alive in the SEC West.
Even with a big game ahead, there is always room to troll Alabama, which Texas A&M defeated back in October, with a commercial for the SEC Network’s show, “Marty & McGee.”
The advertisement begins with ESPN’s Marty Smith and Ryan McGee signing “Sweet Home Alabama” in a truck with Fisher sitting in the middle. The Texas A&M head coach looks around confused before switching the radio channel.
“If You’re Gonna Play in Texas (You Gotta Have a Fiddle in the Band)” comes on to the satisfaction of the three, showing a switch to a more Aggie-friendly song. They drive off to College Station, signing along to the song.
Fisher became the first former assistant of Nick Saban to beat him when Texas A&M upset then No. 1 Alabama 41-38 on Oct. 9. Before the season began, it was seen as the SEC West’s biggest matchup of the season from a conference championship standpoint.

Before the season began, the Aggies’ head coach made it known he had intentions to beat Saban. During a Houston TD club meeting, somebody asked what the key to beating Alabama was besides Saban deciding to retire. Fisher responded with, “We’re going to beat his ass when he’s there. Don’t worry.”
After the win in October, Fisher reflected on his comments saying his competitive side was coming out but had nothing but respect for the Alabama head coach.
“Listen, I have the utmost respect for Nick Saban,” said Fisher. “I always have, always will. And I consider us friends and I think he does too. But we’re competitors. And like he said, he didn’t think he was gonna lose to me either. I mean I don’t think I’m gonna lose to him. That’s just ball and I respect him for that. We grew up in the same neck of the woods. We had a lot of the same water.”
Now, Texas A&M will be looking to beat another team from the state of Alabama, Auburn. Bryan Harsin’s team is fresh off a win against Ole Miss, keeping their SEC Championship hopes alive.
The two will kick off at 3:30 ET on CBS.
