The Texas A&M Aggies will have another star heading to the next level in Isaiah Spiller. The running back announced his intentions to declare for the NFL Draft via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.

Spiller spent three seasons in College Station, rushing for over 1,000 yards his sophomore and junior year. Overall, he rushed for 2,993 yards and 25 touchdowns. Spiller was also a threat in the passing game, catching 74 passes for 585 yards and a touchdown.

In his statement released, Spiller thanked everybody from his family to his teammates and coaches. He even thanked the Aggie faithful, saying it was an “honor” to play at Kyle Field in front of them.

“Finally, THANK YOU to the 12th Man,” Spiller said. “You are the best fans in the nation and the atmosphere and energy you bring to every game is second to none. You’ve embraced me and my family therefore, we are forever grateful. It has been an honor to take the field and represent you.”

Spiller came to College Station with a ton of hype, being the No. 10 running back from the 2019 class on the On3 Consensus. He was a part of Texas A&M’s No. 5 ranked class and will have plenty of fellow classmates joining him in the NFL.

Texas A&M quarterback pens farewell after entering transfer portal

Spiller will not be the only Aggie who will be leaving College Station this week. Texas A&M starting quarterback Zach Calzada decided to put an end to his time as an Aggie this week. He posted a farewell message to the fans on Monday after the news broke that he is in the NCAA Transfer Portal.

“I have THE MOST love for Texas A&M, my coach’s, teammates, and anybody who has been a part of this process,” Calzada wrote. “From the bottom of my heart…Thank you to the 12th man.”

Calzada, a redshirt sophomore, started 10 games this season in the place of Haynes King who suffered a season-ending leg injury in the first game. He’ll have immediate eligibility at his next program as this will be his first time transferring. King, a redshirt freshman, is likely to regain his starting job for the Aggies come 2022.

The Buford, Georgia, native threw for 2,185 yards, 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions this year for Jimbo Fisher’s 8-4 squad. Calzada’s season completion percentage at 56.1% ranked 13 out of the SEC’s 14 starting quarterbacks.

Coming out of Lanier High School, Calzada was a top-500 prospect with 25 Division-I offers.
