Jim Schlossnagle says Texas A&M is 'prepared for anything' in NCAA Tournament
Texas A&M baseball had quite the run late in the season and head coach Jim Schlossnagle said his Aggies are prepared for anything in the NCAA Tournament.
The Aggies drew the No. 2 seed in the Stanford Regional, where they’ll take on Cal State Fullerton and host Stanford drew San Jose State. After playing nine games in 11 days and running to the SEC Tournament Finals, a new stage doesn’t faze Schlossnagle and his squad.
It seems like Texas A&M wants to keep the train rolling.
“We’re built for any level of play,” Schlossnagle said. “We just played nine games in 11 days and six straight games in the SEC tournament, you know, being the first double digit seed to make a championship, so you’re prepared for anything. I think the way we did that, we didn’t swing the bat that great. You know, I mean, we did a little bit yesterday, but we did it with pitching and defense.”
If you want to talk prepared for anything, Schlossnagle already has a detailed layout of the ballpark out west.

“As I’m told, Stanford‘s ballpark, there’s a big difference between playing a day game and a night game,” Schlossnagle said. “So during the day, the ball carries really well, they’ve hit a lot of homers. At night, it does, as I’m told. A lot of foul ground too. So you know, we just played in a ballpark that until yesterday, wind was blowing out yesterday, but until yesterday, it was a massive place in Hoover. So I think again, we’re prepared for everything. Now we just have to go play.”
The head coach also put it in perspective. Texas A&M was considered a team that would be on the outside of the NCAA Tournament.
Now all of a sudden, they’re in and ready to make something happen.
“Yeah. I’m excited,” Schlossnagle said. “I’ve never been to Stanford. So in 33 years as a coach to get a chance to go someplace different, looking forward to that. But you know, just two weeks ago, we’re just I would have taken the four seed in Anchorage (Alaska) right? And so now we played our way into it. Now I’m assuming we’re a two-seed. But anyway, we’re playing. We’re playing and it’s great to be a part of a great regional and we’ll see how we see how we do.”
